Jane Seymour: “I just can not stand to hear that I should…”
If you delve far into Jane Seymour’s meticulously chosen collection of museum-quality vintage clothing, you will discover a box full of hair among the stunning Halston gowns and the 17th-century frock coats that Princess Margaret adored. Seldom touched since Seymour featured in the wildly famous Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman series in the 1990s, her pioneer-era wigs finally got their much-deserved night out at the Oscars last month. With regard to the recognizable hairpieces, Seymour explains, “They normally sit in a beautiful little Tupperware box.” “But my hairdresser said, ‘Let me try something else, I want to buy those Dr Quinn wigs!'” Dr. Quinn put both on me, although he only wore one at a time. A mass of hair was there!
We are here to talk about her new TV show, Harry Wild (more on that later), but the topic always seems to go toward the Oscars. Seymour is speaking to me from her Malibu estate just 36 hours after the most dramatic Academy Awards of the century, but this consummate professional is handling the controversy with grace. The 71-year-old seasoned actor and screenwriter is gregarious and talkative, and she readily shares stories about her time in Hollywood.
