“The Lighthouse,” a new song by Stevie Nicks, is out on….
The legendary musician Stevie Nicks now possesses a Barbie doll, which sold out in less than a day.
On social media on Sunday, Nicks, whose captivating voice has mesmerized audiences for decades both with Fleetwood Mac and in her solo career, revealed Mattel’s Music Collector Series Barbie doll.
In honor of her 2023 headline tour, Nicks’ appearance on the 1977 Fleetwood Mac “Rumours” album cover—a long, black dress with flowing sleeves and black shoes—inspired the doll.
The doll, which is made by Mattel, has Nicks’ distinctive bangs, a moon pendant around her neck, and a tambourine with flowing ribbons hanging from it. Mattel describes the doll’s appearance as “bewitching,” mimicking her “spellbinding elegance.”
“I was completely overwhelmed when Mattel asked if I would like a Barbie made in the style of the ‘Rumours’ cover. Naturally, I wondered if she would resemble me. Could she possess my soul? Would she be worthy of my heart? Nicks posted on X, the website that was formerly known as Twitter.
“I see myself today in her face, and when I look at her, I see my 27-year-old self. All the memories of coming out on that large stage in that black costume and those wonderful boots come rushing back,” she said. “The experiences we have shared, the conflicts we have faced, and the knowledge we have gained since 1975. She is me, and I am her. She truly has my heart.”
Barbie from Nicks was sold out by Tuesday morning, having gone on sale for $55 on Monday.
According to a statement from Mattel, “Stevie Nicks has been a tremendous influence and source of inspiration and admiration for artists and audiences throughout the world, especially to women in the rock and roll business.” Nicks is most known for being the lead vocalist of Fleetwood Mac and a critically acclaimed, chart-topping solo act. “With her distinctive style and compelling stage presence, she has made a lasting impression on the global music industry.”
