Jodie Foster explained why, during her children’s upbringing, she kept her status as a Hollywood celebrity a secret.
The 61-year-old Oscar winner remarked, “I think I just did not want them to know me that way,” on Friday’s episode of The View. “I wanted them to know that I was their mother and that I sometimes went away to work,” the author said.
“I simply wanted to make sure they understood what I did for a job,” she continued.
The former member of Silence of the Lambs, who co-stars in Nyad alongside Annette Bening, then comically recalled what her 25-year-old older son, Charles, thought she did every day when she took him to a movie set.
“Yeah, and this is this set and this set and this set,” I replied. Additionally, he mistook me for a construction worker for a very long time. I worked in construction, he believed.
Upon being asked if she had ever watched any of her films with her adult sons, Christopher ‘Kit,’ 22, and Charles, she said that she had.
They do not want to see my movies with me at all. Regarding her HBO series, “I think people are going to catch True Detective because they are really into that,” she remarked.
“I would never show them some movies because I would be afraid they would make fun of me for not having seen them; Nell is one example of a movie they have not seen, but they make fun of me for it all the time.”
Jodie and Cydney Bernard, her ex-partner, are parents to two sons. Their biological mother is Foster; the name of their biological father is a secret.
