Happy anniversary to Bjornborg, the legendary Swedish tennis player, on your marriage.
Loredana Bertè was married twice; the first time to 11-time Grand Slam winner Bjorn Borg, with whom the singer had a tense relationship. Bertè acknowledged that the split from the Swede was abrupt. “My most recent spouse and I got divorced, and I punched him very hard in the hotel because I thought he was contacting the sandwich club reception, but he called two hookers instead!” The first time Borg and the Italian went on a date was when Borg was in Paris for a tennis competition in 1973.
Adriano Panatta, the 1976 French Open champion, was dating the rock star at the time. Panatta informed Loredana, “My darling, I have to dominate this Swedish guy so we go dine together,” just before vanquishing the opponent. Bertè wrote this in her book on what happened that evening.
In 1989, they were married in Milan, Italy, and then relocated to Sweden. However, their marriage was short-lived because Borg was abusing cocaine. “In retrospect, I probably would not get married again,” Bertè stated to Chi Magazine. “I was really let down by Borg’s wedding.
At the beginning of our relationship, he surprised me as we were having a good time together, then things changed. I got married to him because he was like, I love you, honey. Then he changed as a person. I also lost money with him.
The rich never have money in their pockets, so I was always paying. I was afraid about the cocaine. I complied with his request to “take it together” in order to better understand how he was feeling and to get to know him.”
