Knighted by Queen, Brian May makes light of the fact that his knees “just about” held…
After receiving a knighthood at Buckingham Palace, Brian May made light of the King’s kneeling during the ceremony.
The guitarist for Queen, who is responsible for some of the most well-known and iconic solos and riffs in popular music, including those from Bohemian Rhapsody, One Vision, and We Will Rock You, also disclosed that the band may go on another tour in 2023.
Recognized for his contributions to music and charitable work, Sir Brian, 75, was present along with his spouse, Anita Dobson.
After the event, he declared, “I am really thrilled, beaming from ear to ear, particularly because it was the King, which means a lot.” “I have a tremendous affection for him and it was a great moment. We have had a certain amount of interaction over the years and we are of an age.”
The King is one year younger than the musician, at seventy-four.
We talked about how old we are and how he was worried if my knees would hold out for the ceremony’s kneeling portion. I replied, “Yes, almost,” he remarked.
“I guess receiving this honor is similar to receiving a gold medal at school—you have accomplished something and know what you are capable of, so when you receive that extra validation from above, it is a wonderful and unique experience.”
After leader Freddie Mercury’s death in 2011, Queen has toured with American singer Adam Lambert as well as other vocalists.
Despite having a heart attack in 2020, Sir Brian claims his health has improved since then.
