Prince Harry draws comparisons between his relationship with Lili and Archie.
Over the past four years, the public’s attention has focused more on the sibling bond between Prince Harry and Prince William. Harry’s Spare memoir, which was published in 2023, gave a candid account of the brothers’ complicated relationship. Harry claimed to have gained fresh perspective on his relationships and life experiences while writing and promoting his book. Several of the discoveries in Spare contradicted the conventional account of his life story; one of the more unexpected ones was the assertion that he and William had never been as close as the palace and media had made them appear to be as children or adults.
Despite this, he stated in a book promotion interview that he now recognizes William’s previous actions as a father since he has seen the brothers’ dynamic reflected in his own two children, Prince Archie (born in 2019) and Princess Lilibet (coming in 2021).
“I talk about the relationship between William and myself at Eton and the fact that he didn’t really want to know me,” he stated. “You know, that stinks as the younger brother. It’s as if to say, “Come on, let’s go, we’re at the same school now that you left me at Ludgrove [School] and now I’m here at Eton.” He had no desire to interact with me. And at the moment, that hurt.” The prince claims that, as a parent of two young children, he has improved his understanding of the dynamic, even though the memory hurts.
