Chapel Hill has long been a place where basketball and tradition intertwine, and now one of North Carolina’s own is adding a sweet twist to that legacy. Senior guard Seth Trimble has officially stepped into the world of business, becoming the owner of a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream shop in Chapel Hill.
Trimble, known for his defensive intensity and steady leadership on the court, said this new venture is about more than just serving up ice cream — it’s about giving back to the community that has supported him throughout his career.
“This isn’t just a business move for me,” Trimble told reporters. “Chapel Hill has given me so much, and I wanted to create something fun, positive, and lasting here. It’s about connection.”
In true Tar Heel fashion, Trimble is also making sure his shop honors UNC basketball history. He revealed plans to dedicate a signature item to legendary head coach Roy Williams, who led the Tar Heels to three national championships. While details are still under wraps, Trimble hinted it would be a flavor inspired by Williams’ favorite desserts and his legacy of excellence.
“Coach Williams is more than just a Hall of Fame coach — he’s a mentor and a symbol of what this program stands for,” Trimble said. “I wanted to make sure this shop pays tribute to him in a way that fans and the community can enjoy.”
The opening has already drawn plenty of buzz in Chapel Hill, with students, alumni, and Tar Heel fans eager to stop by for a scoop — and maybe a taste of the upcoming Roy Williams-inspired treat.
For Trimble, who continues to balance basketball with academics and now entrepreneurship, this venture signals a new chapter — one rooted in leadership, legacy, and love for Carolina Blue.
