Filipina tennis star Alex Eala has finally addressed the doping allegations that recently stirred controversy in the sports world, firmly denying any involvement in the use of prohibited substances.
In a carefully worded statement released on Sunday, Eala expressed deep disappointment over what she called “baseless and damaging accusations,” asserting her commitment to clean sport and the values of integrity and fairness. The 20-year-old rising tennis sensation stated that she has always complied with the rules and regulations set by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and has never tested positive for any banned substance throughout her professional career.
“I have nothing to hide,” Eala said. “I’ve worked tirelessly to reach this point in my career, and I would never jeopardize that by compromising the principles I was raised with. These allegations are not only false but also deeply hurtful.”
Eala also confirmed that she is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities and has submitted all necessary documentation to aid the ongoing investigation. Her legal team is reportedly exploring options to pursue action against those responsible for spreading the allegations.
The tennis community, including several of Eala’s peers and coaches, has voiced support for the young athlete, calling for a fair and unbiased process. Meanwhile, tournament organizers and the Philippine sports authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation and allow due process to take its course.
As she prepares to return to competition later this month, Eala expressed hope that the truth will prevail and that she can continue to inspire young athletes without the shadow of controversy.
