The French Open injury to Alex Zverev garners encouragement from…
After undergoing surgery to repair damaged ligaments in his ankle, Alexander Zverev declared he will “come back better than before,” thereby ruling out his chances of competing at Wimbledon later this month.
Last week, Zverev’s run at the French Open came to an abrupt end under extremely upsetting circumstances.
Stretching for a forehand return in his semifinal match against Rafael Nadal, the German, who will move up to world No. 2 when the ATP Tour rankings are updated the following week, tore numerous ligaments in his right ankle, leaving him writhing in agony on the ground.
Eventually, Zverev had to wheel himself off the Philippe-Chatrier court. The German did not spend any time having surgery, updating his fans on the outcome of the successful procedure on his Instagram feed.
Everybody’s life journey is unique. He posted a picture of himself grinning and giving the thumbs up from his hospital bed on Instagram with the caption, “This is part of my.”
I had to have surgery this morning, but I will be at my career-high rating of No. 2 in the world next week.
We were able to confirm that my right ankle’s three lateral ligaments were damaged after additional testing in Germany.
“Surgery was the best option to ensure that all the ligaments healed properly, to get back to competing as soon as possible, and to regain full stability in my ankle.”
