As a whole, the Milwaukee Bucks just didn’t fit that well last season.
Days before camp, there was an unexpected trade involving Damian Lillard, and the Bucks were not designed to accommodate his style of play. The roster was designed with defensive guard Jrue Holiday in mind rather than star offensive player Lillard. This led to many strange lineups and made players who weren’t thought of as good defenders play important roles in that regard. Things didn’t exactly go as planned.
Milwaukee’s front office spent the offseason of 2024 making roster adjustments to ensure that this bunch, at least on paper, fit better than it did during the 2024–25 season, after fighting that during the entire previous season. Head coach Doc Rivers will have many options to pick from when constructing his lineups, and it should be simpler than it was the previous year now that their 15-man regular roster is probably set.
With all of that now said, let’s highlight three five-man units that could dictate the team’s success this coming season.
Their likely starting lineup
Lillard, Trent, Middleton, Antetokounmpo and Lopez.
