Breaking: 6’0″ Point Guard Bishop Boswell Shocks World With Unexpected Commitment to Tennessee– What This Means for College Basketball!
Bishop Boswell, a four-star point guard and the only high school player in Tennessee Basketball’s 2024 signing class, arrived in Knoxville on Sunday to formally start his career with the Vols. He signed with the Vols in November after committing to Tennessee in September of last year.
Boswell, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound graduate of Charlotte, North Carolina’s Myers Park High School, concluded his prep career with an overall On3 Industry Ranking ranking of 74th. He was ranked the eighth best player overall out of North Carolina and the eleventh best point guard in the class.
Boswell last month was joined in Tennessee’s 2024 class by four players from the NCAA Transfer Portal: North Florida guard Chaz Lanier, Hofstra wing Darlinstone Dubar, Charlotte forward Igor Milicic Jr. and Ohio State center Felix Okpara.
Boswell played basketball and football in high school, but he stopped playing football after the 2021 season to concentrate more on his basketball career. He guided his Myers Park squad to a state title last spring.
“I chose Tennessee because of the winning culture that the program has and Coach Barnes has had over his career,” Boswell told On3 when he announced his commitment last year, “as well as the relationship coach has with his players to love them while also getting the best out of them and developing them on the court. Also how passionate the fans and teachers are about their student-athletes.”
Bishop Boswell and his mother, Brittany Boswell, are a welcome addition to the Tennessee Basketball family. Bishop is a wonderful young man with exceptional leadership abilities. He is a large, adaptable guard who can score and assist with ease. His capacity to defend several spots on the opposing side of the court excites us as well. Bishop, a former football player, will also contribute a high degree of toughness that complements our program.
