Fans are Unhappy:Kentucky fans are losing their mind over Kentucky going to first Sweet 16 since 2025..
Oh, it is so sweet. In their first season under head coach Mark Pope, the Kentucky Wildcats are making it to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2019. Kentucky defeated the offensively-oriented Illinois Fighting Illini 84-75 in the NCAA Tournament’s second round. The fans have some celebrating to do before they can concentrate on the Wildcats’ matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers in the Sweet 16—a clash of the SEC clubs. The Wildcats are in this position for the first time in seven years, and
They expressed their excitement on X, now known as Twitter, by expressing their support for their team and their genuine happiness at progressing to the next round. See this picture of Pope Man 🥹.twitter.com/2UxONM1BRV — March 24, 2025, Barstool Kentucky (@BarstoolUK)
Pope is genuinely delighted to be in Kentucky. It is undoubtedly something amazing to return and coach the squad with which you had such wonderful experiences after two seasons with the Wildcats. Pop’s genuine concern for his employees and players is evident, and sometimes that is all a team needs or desires in order to perform well.
There is always time to harass a competitor. While Louisville is still reeling from their crushing defeat to Creighton in the first round, Kentucky is on its way to the Sweet 16. I suppose we already know who the state’s best squad is, and it is not even close.
Pope has demonstrated that he is a top-tier coach who can work wherever. The Wildcats had no players on their roster who had scored a point for Kentucky the previous season, making them the only team to ever start the season with 0 points from the previous year. Pope is clearly doing something unique at Kentucky.
