“Malachi Toney Joins Miami Hurricane: Star Athlete Signs on the Dotted Line for Game-Changing Season Ahead!”…..
Prior to his pledge, Toney told CanesCounty, “I selected Miami because I always watched them growing up, and I want to make the crib great again.” “I see a pipeline from Heritage to Miami that makes it feel like home, and I have always wanted to be a Hurricane.”
For the Florida 2M state finalists, Toney, a sophomore from the area, had an exceptional debut campaign. He caught 35 receptions for 621 yards and eight touchdowns, complimenting five-star Ohio State signee Brandon Inniss.
He was named a freshman All-American and made the second team All-Browards, second only to Inniss and five-stars Hykeem Williams and Jeremiah Smith, for his outstanding first season on
Toney received more than 25 offers so early in the process, including from prestigious schools like Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, and Michigan. The Crimson Tide, Buckeyes, Bulldogs, Wolverines, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Penn State, and Tennessee were among the top ten teams that the 5’10” 173-pound player dropped in April.
His decision to remain at home was greatly influenced by his friendship with Kevin Beard, a fellow native of Broward County. “Coach KB and I have a lot of conversations whenever I am at Miami. He makes an effort to mentor me and teach me valuable life lessons. He talks to me about revitalizing Miami and returning it to its former glory. I see the vision.
