A smaller number than usual
Lamine Yamal of Spain looks on during the UEFA EURO 2024…

The first international break of the 2024/25 season is upon us, with players set to represent their nations at the conclusion of this weekend’s league matches. Barcelona always send plenty of talent to play for their countries each break, but the number is slightly smaller this time.
Only nine Blaugrana stars have been called up for national team duty in September, the first time in quite a while that the number hasn’t reached double figures. Most of the absences — like Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen — are due to injury, and Raphinha has not received his usual Brazil call-up due to a suspension.
But even though there won’t be as many players leaving this time around, all of them are key pieces that Hansi Flick simply cannot afford to lose to injury while in national team duty.
Here are the nine Barça players in action during the upcoming international window:

The Euro 2024 winning quartet of Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres has once again been called up by Spain coach Luis de la Fuente for the start of the Nations League. La Roja will face Serbia and Switzerland.
As for Spain’s under-21s, Olympic gold medalists Fermín López and Pau Cubarsí will play for the youth side in U21 Euro qualification action, as La Roja face Scotland and Hungary.
Other call-ups involve Jules Kounde for France’s Nations League games against Italy and Belgium, Marc-André ter Stegen for Germany in their Nations League matches against Hungary and the Netherlands, and Robert Lewandowski will once again wear the colors of Poland as they take on Scotland and Croatia.
Please stay healthy, all nine of you!
