The father of Alexander Zverev tested positive for the coronavirus.
It would be inaccurate to claim that Alexander Zverev and the coronavirus get along well. The media recently attacked the German sensation for breaking his vow to self-isolate after taking part in the Adria Tour. Sascha’s father tested positive in Italy, where he was with his other son Mischa, who is being drawn to a challenger in Trieste, according to reports from the Italian media.
The US Open follows very tight rules; two players, Guido Pella and Hugo Dellien, were pulled from the Western & Southern Open after their physiology tests revealed a positive result for Covid-19. Hugo and Guido both had negative tests results, but the organization upheld the stringent standard. Other athletes voiced their disapproval of the ruling, including Novak Djokovic, but nothing altered.
Luckily, Mischa tested negative twice, and he will be permitted to compete in the Trieste event if he tests negative a third time. But it is unknown right now what will happen to Sascha. The world no. 7 is in New York for six days, so if necessary, he may have to self-isolate and miss the Southern and Western Opens in order to play the US Open (if he continues to test negative). It is truly unclear what will happen, though, as the German has communicated with a lot of other guests at the hotel.
Zverev’s final match took place on February 26 in Acapulco, when he lost to Tommy Paul 6-3 6-4 in the second round.
This year, Alexander Zverev’s greatest accomplishment was placing second.
