French Open Controversy: Boris Becker Turns Blind Eye to Steffi Graf to Hype Alexander Zverev for…..
Today French Open reaches the last phase, with only the men’s final on the court. Carlos Alcaraz Garfia will be dueling with Alexander Zverev for the Musketeers’ Trophy, with both players fighting for their first Roland Garros victory. To encourage the German star, his countryman and former world number one Boris Becker caused a sensation by passing over another German tennis great. Becker is in the middle of the French Open frenzy that has taken over Paris. And not for the best of reasons! Becker is pushing the envelope for the German tennis player who is en route to his first Grand Slam victory, while legions of tennis fans are cheering for the young Spanish phenom, Alcaraz. Not everyone, though, agreed with the former World No. 1. He overlooked Steffi Graf, one of Germany’s tennis greats, when applauding for Zverev! He seemed to have forgotten about the WTA star when he declared that today was a historic day for Germany.
Here, we have never had a champion. This, however, was absolutely false because Steffi Graf had actually won the French Open six times in the 1990s! Fans will undoubtedly recall Graf’s 32-minute annihilation of Natasha Zvereva during the 1988 French Open championship match. In addition, Graf only gave up 13 points during the entire game—a fantastic achievement that has not been matched by another player. Despite Iga Swiatek’s 40-minute match coming close, the 22-time Grand Slam champion is still at the top. Even though Becker was the youngest Wimbledon champion, he might have meant that the men’s French Open championship is difficult to win. However, the ship has already set off. And all of Boom Boom’s fire’s smoke is now visible!
Alcaraz, who is favored to succeed Rafael Nadal, has the fans on tenterhooks. Zverev undoubtedly needs a few supporters to help him win his first Grand Slam.
