Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary cricket player from India, has criticized a deepfake video that appears to be advertising an online game software. He is shown in the video lauding the software as a rapid source of income.
“These are phony videos. “The widespread abuse of technology is alarming,” he wrote on X (previously Twitter).
After a deepfake video of herself went viral a few months ago, actress Rashmika Mandanna advised people not to share such content. The video, which included Mandanna’s visage transformed onto an Instagram video shared by a British-Indian woman, provoked a discussion on technology abuse in India.
The footage also showed Tendulkar stating that his daughter frequently used the gaming software.
