Transfer News: Benfica midfielder and liverpool are in verbal agreement and it “MIGHT” a done deal in…

Scouts from Liverpool and Arsenal visit the €120 million player that Manchester United “wants to replace Casemiro.”

As per Sport Witness, Arsenal and Liverpool are both interested in Benfica midfielder João Neves, and sent scouts to Lisbon on Sunday to watch the player’s performance in a 2-1 derby against Sporting.

Referencing the above reports, Portuguese outlet Record claimed that Benfica did not have any intention of letting Neves go in the coming window, and plan to keep the player until at least the end of the 2024/25 season.

Moreover, the publication alleged that interested parties would have to trigger the 19-year-old’s €120million (£104million) release clause to have any chance of signing the player.

Indeed, Neves, who made 17 appearances for Benfica’s title-winning campaign last term, has also been linked to a move to Old Trafford.

Last month, Catalan publication Nacional claimed that the United hierarchy was not happy with Casemiro’s performances and regretted signing the Brazilian from Real Madrid.

United reportedly want to sign Neves as a replacement and are willing to offer a fee of at least £61million to secure his signature.

Luis Castro, who worked with Neves coming through the ranks at Benfica, claimed the youngster would have no problems adapting to English football.

“He is not behind any of Benfica’s other midfielders,” he said, speaking to O Jogo. “On the contrary, he will be at a higher level. He is the most complete of all. He plays in the Champions League as if it were training or an exercise.

“His quality is visible to everyone, he does everything well. At this age he seems to have more experience, it’s the result of the speed at which his brain works.

“He has great defensive and offensive positioning, he knows the whole game, it’s not surprising that is at this level. He’s very strong in every aspect, even in the air, which at first glance may seem like he doesn’t have any.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world and not only would it be able to adapt, it would play and shine.”

Casemiro tipped to leave Man Utd in January as Saudi Pro League interest revealed

Casemiro could leave Manchester United in January following reports that Saudi Pro League clubs are keen to sign the Brazilian.

Despite being one of the Red Devils’ standout players last season, Casemiro has endured a difficult start to the new campaign.

The 31-year-old’s misery was compounded by a hamstring injury he suffered during United’s 3-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle.

Casemiro joined United in from Real Madrid in August 2022 for £60 million, with his price tag and £300,000 per-week wages often questioned by fans when bearing in mind his age.

Now, following his drop-off in form, Casemiro has been identified as a primary target for the Saudi Pro League in 2024, according to 90min.

The report adds that unlike the likes of Bruno Fernandes, who has also been linked with a move to the Middle East, “Casemiro may be more available in January.”

That is “due to the potential prospect of United recouping a large chunk of their initial expense on the player, in terms of transfer fee and wages.”

While it is said that “United are not actively shopping Casemiro”, they would reportedly be open to selling the midfielder for the right price.

Interestingly, Casemiro still has a staggering four years remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford, but the club may look to cash in on the player while his stock is still high, as opposed to watching his transfer value plummet in years to come.

A move to the Middle East could present the chance of a reunion with former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr, while he could also join up with international teammate Neymar at Al Hilal.

Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber could be set for a move to England in January after attracting the attention of several top Premier League clubs.

Timber helped Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title last season and the Rotterdam club have made another strong start to the current campaign, winning five and drawing two of their opening seven league matches.

Timber has played a key role for his side – registering three assists and one goal, and has caught the eye of a number of Premier League sides with his performances.

According to 90min, scouts from Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all filed ‘favourable reports’ on the 22-year-old – the twin brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber.

Arsenal themselves have also sent scouts to watch the versatile Netherlands youth international, who can operate in a number of different midfield roles.

Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Monaco and Napoli have also reportedly sent scouts to watch the midfielder.

Speaking to Voetbal International ahead of the start of the 2023/24 season, Timber admitted he would one day like to make the same sort of big-money move as his brother – who joined Arsenal in a £38m transfer from Ajax this summer.

“Yes, for sure. In the future of course,” Quinten Timber said in August.

“It would be nice to be able to take such a step. But that of course starts today, at Feyenoord.

“This season I want to show beautiful things. And we will see what the future brings. But that would certainly be nice, yes.”

Timber is not the only Feyenoord player being linked with a move to English football.

His club teammate Santiago Gimenez has also caught the eye of several top clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham after scoring 33 goals in 53 games for the Dutch club. Watch this space.

Liverpool set sights on 'top target' who Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag wanted to sign

Liverpool are keen on signing an Ajax defender coveted by Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, according to reports.

The Reds spent last summer strengthening their midfield, with Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo all arriving.

They were linked with a move for a centre-back, but decided to end the window with youngster Jarell Quansah complimenting the senior quartet of Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez.

Quansah has adapted well to life in the first team after spending the second half of last season on loan at League One side Bristol Rovers.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has praised the 20-year-old on numerous occasions, and he has started two of Liverpool’s three Europa League wins this term.

But the Reds are reportedly still eyeing versatile defensive options, particularly in light of left-back Andy Robertson’s recent injury.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have identified Ajax defender Devyne Rensch as a target for the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old can play at right-back and centre-back, and the Reds see him as a rotation option for Trent Alexander-Arnold and appreciate his versatility to feature in different roles.

Rensch has made seven appearances for Ajax this term, and has been a regular in the first team since his senior debut during the 2020/21 season.

Given the struggles of the Eredivisie giants this season – they are currently bottom of the division after eight games – the defender may be tempted to make the switch to Anfield.

Should Liverpool complete the move, they would be beating Manchester United to the defender’s signature.

According to The Sun, Ten Hag was keen on signing Rensch and Jurrien Timber last January to bolster his defence.

But Timber ended up signing for Arsenal this summer from Ajax – and he could be dealt a secondary blow in the form of Rensch, with money currently tight at United.

Incoming Manchester United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly ‘open to offers’ for midfielder Casemiro in January.

Ineos founder Ratcliffe is close to finalising a deal which will see him take a 25 per cent stake in the club.

Ratcliffe will take control of the sporting department and is ready for an extensive overhaul following a decade of mismanagement at Old Trafford.

Per talkSPORT, he’s willing to cash in on Casemiro, with clubs from Saudi Arabia interested.

Casemiro joined United from Real Madrid in a £60 million deal in 2022 after manager Erik ten Hag failed to land top transfer target Frenkie de Jong.

The Brazil international arrived with experience to his name, including five Champions League titles from his time in Spain.

Despite a solid first season, Casemiro has struggled this term. He was sent off in a 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League in October and looks to have lost a yard of pace.

He’s currently out with a hamstring injury and isn’t expected to return until after Christmas.

Now aged 31, Casemiro’s whopping £350,000-per-week wages and limited resale value means United need to act fast if they want to recoup the fee they paid 16 months ago.

Ratcliffe is ready to approve Casemiro’s departure to fund a rebuild for Ten Hag.

The Manchester Evening News claimed just last month that Casemiro was an ‘undroppable’ player for Ten Hag.

United are currently sixth in the Premier League. Despite a tough start to the season, which has seen them get knocked out of the Carabao Cup and on the brink of Champions League elimination, they’re the most in-form team in the division.

They’ve won four out of their last five, with the latest victory coming against Luton Town on Saturday afternoon.

Victor Lindelof scored the only goal of the game as United came out on top 1-0.

Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund went off injured in the game and have been forced to withdraw from international duty with Denmark.

“You don’t want to lose any player this is also our season, so many injuries,” Ten Hag said when asked about United’s injury list post-match. “We talk about it many times, the routine levels in your team, in the style of play.

“At this moment with Rasmus, I can’t say anything about it because I don’t know. We do an assessment but have to wait for 24 hours to see the conclusion and if there is a problem. Christian slipped, but it is the same.”
