Report: 5boston celtics key players miss in training due…

The Celtics squeaked out their fifth straight win over the Raptors on Friday night but they may have lost some key talent in the process. All-Star wing Jaylen Brown left the game with eight seconds remaining in regulation after slipping on the court and appearing to tweak his groin.

Brown slipped on the court at least three times during his 36 minutes of action but his final fall was an ugly one. He immediately grabbed for his groin area after hitting the floor and remained on the court for several seconds after the fall. Eventually, Boston called timeout and he walked off the court slowly under his own power while talking with Boston trainers. Al Horford replaced him in the game for the final eight seconds. Joe Mazzulla told reporters in Toronto that Brown said he was okay after leaving the game.

Brown played one of his best games of the season before suffering the injury, scoring 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field. He also went 3-of-5 from 3-point range.

The game was played on a new court in Toronto created for the NBA in-season tournament. There have been a number of complaints from players about slippery surfaces around the league on the specialized courts and one court in Dallas was even taken out of service due to safety issues. Brown was among several players who slipped on multiple occasions during Friday’s game so this will be an area of focus for in-tournament games moving forward.
