Manchester United make approach to sign Chelsea midfielder this summer

Mason Mount is one of the midfielders Man Utd are considering, and if a deal can be reached, personal conditions shouldn’t be an issue. His Chelsea contract expires in June 2024. Since leaving the academy, Mount has won the Champions League and Club World Cup with Chelsea.

However, the Chelsea midfielder has not yet received an official offer. Personal terms are not anticipated to be an issue if a deal can be reached.

Next summer, Mount’s Chelsea contract will expire. Inquiries about his prospective availability from Manchester United have increased this year as a result of his challenging circumstances at Stamford Bridge.

Prior to having surgery for a pelvic ailment that kept him out for the remainder of the season, Mount last appeared for Chelsea in April. After the disappointing season concluded with a 1-1 tie against Newcastle United at home on Sunday, he appeared to be bidding his goodbyes.

Since making his senior squad debut, the 24-year-old Chelsea academy graduate has won the Champions League and Club World Cup. Additionally, he included their loss to Liverpool in the League Cup final on penalties the previous year as well as three consecutive FA Cup finals.

“Antonio Rudiger, who was superb and one of the finest defenders at the club, showed it last season. He requested more money, but they refused to give it to him. Later, they purchased Kalidou Koulibaly for £33 million over a four-year period, which is more than they would have paid Rudiger.

“Now Mount is being used in the scheme. They are only evaluating him based on one season even though he is one of their own and hasn’t had a great season. He was Chelsea’s finest player the previous year. He appeared among the first names on England’s roster. They are now releasing him. It’s astounding.

“You’re also allowing a very talented footballer to join Liverpool or Manchester United, two teams Chelsea is competing with to finish in the top four the next season. It is impossible to write.

“How can you allow him to enter a club where he might seriously torment you? If they land him, United won’t believe their good fortune.
