Kai Havertz open to Real Madrid move as Chelsea look to cash in on €60m forward

WHAT OCCURED? According to Sky Germany, Real Madrid and Chelsea are negotiating a deal worth up to €60 million (£52 million or $64 million), since the English club needs to offload players this summer. According to rumors, Havertz is willing to consider leaving Stamford Bridge.

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic led the high-profile list of names who were expected to depart, thus it wasn’t originally anticipated that the former Bayer Leverkusen star would be among the Chelsea exodus this summer.

Additionally, Havertz is rumored to have a “strong connection” to Chelsea but might be lured away as Real Madrid looks to replace Karim Benzema, whose exit from the Spanish club has been confirmed, with a striker. Harry Kane of Tottenham and Victor Osimhen of Napoli have both been mentioned in connection with Los Blancos.

WHAT WILL HARTZ DO NEXT? Chelsea must sell assets to reduce their roster and raise money for summer transfers for their new manager, Mauricio Pochettino, but it is unclear if they will be willing to let Havertz go.
