Is LeBron James or Larry Bird the greatest small forward of all time?

Boston, Massachusetts (CBS) — There would be no discussion as recently as last year. But now that LeBron James has brilliantly won his third NBA championship, it’s reasonable to wonder if he has surpassed Larry Bird to become the all-time greatest small forward.

After LeBron scored 41 points in Game 5, then repeated the feat in Game 6, and then recorded a triple-double in Game 7, a championship performance that he concluded with a block of the century, it has been a hot topic of conversation all week.

It’s clear that the two participants had different sets of skills. LeBron has the size and strength of perhaps any ball handler in NBA history, and Bird has the best court vision in the annals of the sport. While LeBron can essentially play any position on the floor, Bird was a phenomenal shooter and an unrivaled competitor.
