Ilkay Gundogan’s agent speaks out on future amid Arsenal and Barcelona offers

Ilkay Gundogan’s agent has refuted reports that the midfielder has decided to stay at Manchester City, with Arsenal and Barcelona still in the running.
Gundogan’s contract expires at the end of the month, at which point he may leave the Etihad on a free transfer. A number of clubs have contacted him, and since the turn of the year, his agent has been allowed to negotiate with international teams.

The 32-year-old was rumored to be close to signing with Barcelona, and Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has made a last-ditch effort to try to entice the German to north London.

Due to his outstanding play and Pep Guardiola’s eagerness to keep him, the Premier League winners increased their offer to a two-year contract from their first one-year offer.

The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder was anticipated to accept City’s revised offer, but now Gundogan’s agent and brother, Ilhan, has put an end to rumors that he has already opted to remain at the Etihad.

When asked about rumors that Gundogan had pledged to remain at City, Ilhan responded to Fabrizio Romano, “Nothing has been agreed with City or any other club.”

The most recent rumors are untrue. Ilkay is just concerned with winning the Champions League.

Gundogan scored twice against Leeds and once against Everton in the Premier League back-to-back to help City win the league for the third time in a row. He also scored twice against rival Manchester United in the FA Cup final on Sunday.

When asked if his desire to remain at City was influenced by their victory at Wembley, Gundogan responded to the BBC: “To be honest, I don’t need these kinds of days to feel loved and special in this club.”

I am aware of this; in spite of all the ups and downs I have experienced thus far, I have been here for seven years.

We will wait and see what happens because nothing has been decided yet.

Since Sergio Busquets left, Gundogan is thought to be the perfect addition to fill the experience void. Gundogan’s representative has been seen visiting Barcelona’s offices in Catalonia several times in recent months.

Gundogan’s expertise and shrewdness would be a great addition to Arteta’s Arsenal team, who this season narrowly lost to City, but Guardiola is pushing City’s hierarchy to lock down the German’s future.
