DONE DEAL: Tottenham emergency signing : Europe’s deadliest striker right now for £15m to replace Harry Kane on next mach

Tottenham have the option to sign a bargain striker in the January transfer market as they look to replace Harry Kane.

Tottenham is one of the teams that will be closely monitored because, despite his astonishing 14 goals in eight Bundesliga games, Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy reportedly has a £15 million release clause in his contract. The 27-year-old continued his goal-scoring prowess by storming the top division after helping the German team win promotion to the elite division the previous season.

Scouts from all over the world are keeping an eye on the Guinean, who after eight games broke Robert Lewandowski’s record for the most goals in the Bundesliga ever. Spurs are reportedly interested in the striker and are reportedly conducting preliminary research on him, according to TEAMtalk.

Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy decided against signing a high-profile replacement for Harry Kane through the transfer window. Rather, they placed the responsibility on players like James Maddison and Son Heung-min to perform, with support from Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Brennan Johnson.

Spurs will note that Guirassy is outscoring Kane in Germany and is available for a fraction of the price that they sold the England captain for in the summer, though Fulham are also said to be interested in a potential transfer as they look to fill the void left by Aleksandar Mitrovic following his big-money move to Saudi Arabia.

Son has primarily been used as the out-and-out striker by Postecoglou recently, as the boss explained that his new captain was part of the reason why he didn’t bring in an immediate replacement for Kane.

“One of the reasons we didn’t buy (a number nine) is that Sonny, central or wide, has all the characteristics to play in any system,” Postecoglou said in September. “I have a picture in my head of what want the team to look like and we are still building. There is lots to be done.”

But with Guirassy putting up such incredible goalscoring numbers in the Bundesliga that are hard to ignore, Spurs may feel that it is difficult to turn down a player of his talents for just £15m. Alejo Veliz was brought in for a similar fee and although seven years Guirassy’s junior, another central forward option may be desired.

Especially as Son has continued to play through injury and once again was brought off during his side’s 2-0 win over Fulham on Monday night, a game in which Postecoglou criticised the team despite victory.

If Son is not able to play the full 90 minutes each week and the likes of Richarlison and Johnson are preferred out wide, then Guirassy could be the man to solve Postecoglou’s dilemma at a bargain price of £15m.
