Done deal!!! Liverpool seal deal with Nicolo Barella, inter Milan midfielder with the sum of £77 million

Nicolo Barella, a midfielder for Inter Milan, is said to be of interest to Liverpool.

Nicolo Barella has a lot of support from Jurgen Klopp. That much is clear given that the German has expressed respect for the Inter Milan player on record.

Before Liverpool’s Champions League match against Inter Milan in 2022, Klopp argued that Barella’s inability to play was not a bad thing for his team. “I think he’s a really good player and I think he’s a really good player,”

He possesses all the qualities you look for in a midfielder, including technical ability, the ability to run for extended periods of time, and aggression. That is a top-tier athlete.

It is not surprising that Liverpool have been connected with Barella as they continue to plan a midfield makeover this summer since Pep Lijnders, the Reds assistant manager, is a fan of the Italian as well.

The Reds are thought to be searching for a younger man for their second midfield addition after bringing in Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton earlier this month. Liverpool are interested in players like Khephren Thuram, Manu Kone, Ryan Gravenberch, Gabri Veiga, and Romeo Lavio as a result.

However, the most recent rumors indicate that there won’t be any compromise with Inter Milan over the asking price for Barella, at least not in a significant way, as Newcastle is apparently focusing their attention elsewhere. According to The Athletic, the Magpies and Sandro Tonali of AC Milan are close to finalizing a £60 million transfer agreement.

Although the Daily Mail noted that Newcastle sources have always emphasized that such a deal would always be a “difficult” one to accomplish, it is unknown whether negotiations for Barella will continue. Their attention has since swiftly turned to Tonali, which could mean that his compatriot is planning to remain at the San Siro.

That might, of course, be both advantageous and disadvantageous for Liverpool and their own interest in the midfielder. In spite of the possibility that the 26-year-old won’t be moving after all, Kopites won’t rue the sight of the Italian playing for one of their Premier League opponents this season if Newcastle is truly searching elsewhere.

The Reds would have one less rival team to contend with, though, if they were to make their own approach for Barella. There may yet be optimism that the transfer fee will be reduced as a result later in the summer, similar to how Liverpool was able to sign Alisson Becker in the summer of 2018 when AS Roma decreased their asking price in response to Liverpool’s success Thibaut Courtois’s acquisition by Real Madrid.
