Detroit Lions hint at more 2 running back sets on…

Both Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery are among the offense’s 11 best players, and both could be used at the same time, according to offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
The Detroit Lions have a good problem this week: for the first time since Week 2, both of their top two running backs, David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, are essentially out with injuries. Montgomery returned to full practice this week after missing the previous 2.5 games due to a rib injury, while Gibbs’ hamstring issue is no longer an issue.

The question this week has been how the Lions will use both running backs and manage their workload. While Montgomery has been the primary back when healthy, Gibbs has stepped up significantly.

That improvement has certainly earned more trust from the coaching staff moving forward, as they continue to put more on his plate.
