Caitlin Clark, an Iowa basketball sensation, intends to skip next season.

IOWA CITY, Iowa: Caitlin Clark of Iowa, who is poised to surpass all previous NCAA scoring leaders in college basketball, declared on Thursday that she will be leaving the Hawkeyes at the end of this season in order to enter the WNBA Draft.

“Even though we still have a lot of goals to accomplish and this season is far from over, it will be my last one at Iowa,” Clark stated in a post on the X social media network. She expressed gratitude to the thousands of spectators who flocked to arenas across the nation to watch her and the sixth-ranked Hawkeyes, as well as to her coaches and teammates.

Thanks to her dazzling play and 3-point shot, which she frequently made from the on-court logo, Clark became a focal point for women’s basketball. Many players would have been benched for shooting from such a long range, but Clark’s coach gave her the go-ahead, and she has performed admirably while finding her teammates and grabbing rebounds.

With one more year remaining on her eligibility, the guard overtook Lynette Woodard as the all-time top women’s scorer in major college basketball on Wednesday night, scoring 33 points to record her 17th career triple-double in a 108-60 win over Minnesota.
