BREAKING!!!: Manchester City considering Achraf Hakimi as Kyle Walker replacement?

If Kyle Walker departs Manchester City, manager Pep Guardiola allegedly plans to seek for a transfer of Achraf Hakimi from Paris Saint-Germain.

Walker’s future at the Etihad was called into question when Guardiola famously declared that Walker “could not play” in his system, despite successfully using John Stones in an inverted role during the second half of the 2022–23 season.

Walker only appeared off the bench for the final eight minutes of the Champions League final, but he managed to push his way back into the starting lineup and play a crucial part in Man City’s treble victory.

Achraf Hakimi from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 33-year-old’s contract at the Etihad ends in 2024, and Bayern Munich have surfaced as potential suitors. The player also failed to record a single goal or assist in the Premier League last season.

Walker might potentially receive a new contract from Man City, but fresh rumors claim that the former Tottenham Hotspur player is reportedly close to joining Bayern.

Hakimi is reportedly Guardiola’s top pick to take Walker’s place should he decide to leave his relationship with the Citizens due to the uncertainty surrounding his future with PSG, according to Marca.

The 24-year-old stood out for Christophe Galtier’s team last season, scoring five goals and dishing out six assists in 39 games across all competitions to help his team win the Ligue 1 championship and the Trophee des Champions.

Hakimi won’t be a free agent for another three years, but following another Champions League loss for Les Parisiens, his agent Alejandro Camano recently refused to rule out a move for his client abroad.

“We’ll discuss the proposal when PSG gets a new boss. We’ll find out. One of the top clubs in the entire world, it. As reported by L’Equipe, Camano told AS, “We’re waiting for things to stabilize and we will see.

Apparently keeping eyes on Hakimi since he became a sensation at Borussia Dortmund, Man City has contacted PSG to discuss a potential transfer, but the French champions can afford to be tough in talks.

Since moving from Inter Milan to PSG in 2021, Hakimi has scored nine goals and provided 12 assists in 80 appearances. The right-back also started all of Morocco’s World Cup games during their historic run to the semifinals.

Walker and Joao Cancelo, who played a minor role for Guardiola and spent the second half of the 2022–23 season on loan at Bayern, are both slated to leave Man City.

With one goal and six assists in 21 games, Cancelo made a good impression at the Allianz Arena, but Bayern are not likely to accept their offer of a permanent contract.

Arsenal were also rumored to be interested in Cancelo but appear to have switched their focus to Ajax’s Jurrien Timber. Barcelona manager Xavi has indicated that he would be interested in signing Cancelo to Camp Nou.
