5 detroit lions players miss practice due to…

ALLEN PARK — The Detroit Lions remain shorthanded on the offensive lineman, practicing on Thursday without left guard Jonah Jackson.

The former Pro Bowler has been terrific when healthy this season, but he has struggled to stay healthy. He’s already missed three games with an ankle injury, and now his return lasted just one game before suffering a wrist injury that is now keeping him off the field again. With Halapoulivaati Vaitai going on injured reserve this week, Detroit is currently without two of its top three guards heading into Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.

If Jackson can’t go, the Lions likely will turn to rookie Colby Sorsdal, although Dan Skipper is also in the picture.

Defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs (illness) also was not at practice, while safety Ifeat Melifonwu (hand) was practicing with a cast on his hand.
